PATIALA: "Appointment of Partap Singh Bajwa as PCC President is a positive development for Punjab. Bajwa has risen from the grassroot level and is well acquainted with the dynamics and nuances of Punjab politics," said former deputy speaker of Punjab Bir Devinder Singh.
He further added that Congressmen who were disgusted with the feudal lifestyle and aristocratic work culture of the outgoing PCC President Captain Amarinder Singh would now come out of their homes with new vigour and strength to rebuild the Congress in Punjab.

"This change was necessary and long overdue to correct the political imbalance in Punjab. I am of the view that the development has the potential to change the political scenario in Punjab. Stagnate political activism among the disheartened Congressmen in the absence leadership initiative and derive was in a way responsible to tilt the balance in favor of the Akali Dal," said Bir Devinder.
He further stated that this welcome change would arrest the erosion in the ranks of the Congress forthwith, because political minds view this change as an opening of new avenues of opportunities, to work for and strengthen the democratic and secular polity in Punjab. I hope with the support of the congressmen in particular and the people of Punjab in general, Partap Singh Bajwa would soon emerge as a real challenge to Sukhbir Singh Badal.
